Hiya Participates in Vendor Fair, Elevate Omaha

By Xitlally Velasco

We’ve been busy in March. We’d like to share a few things that we’ve been working on behind the scenes here at Hiya.

Our Founder Alejandra was recently interviewed by Elevate Omaha about her personal journey in starting the jewelry line and small businesses which promotes self-care items.

Hiya she explained during the interview was her way of “helping others as I navigated my own anxiety and depression with the help of counseling, mentorship, faith, and loved ones,” she said.

One source of comfort was creating beaded bracelets and giving them to classmates in need of encouragement.

“Soon, friends and classmates were purchasing and sharing the bracelets,” Alejandra said. “The bracelets became known as the Hiya’s Beads of Courage collection, where buying a bracelet supports gifting one to a teen in need of encouragement and the reminder that they are not alone.”

On Saturday, Hiya participated in Building Her Queendom Vendor Fair at Bellevue University which featured small 20-plus Black business owners. Check out a few photos in the gallery provided below.

Please let us know if your business would like to display a "Check On Your People" poster displays a QR Code to scan and direct people to free mental health resources for those in need of encouragement or more urgent care.
