From day one, Hiya was about more than jewelry. It was about creating space for healing, for self-expression, and for young people to step into their power. That’s why I’m so excited (like, scream-into-your-pillow excited) to officially welcome our third group of summer interns!
This crew is joining us through Siembra Nebraska, an incredible internship program by the Latino Center of the Midlands. They’re helping with everything from content creation to storytelling to community connection. And let me tell you, they are bringing the vibes, the talent, and the heart. 💖
Each intern comes with their own story, style, and superpower. Let me introduce you:
Pricilla Escobedo 16 years old, born in San Diego, now repping Bryan High School. She’s here to sharpen her interview skills and prep for big opportunities ahead.
Alexa Hernandez-Francisco A junior from Omaha whose dream is to become an art therapist. She’s passionate about helping youth express their emotions through art and writing. (Hello, Hiya soulmate?!)
Byron Betancourt A storytelling king who’s already eyeing a career in media. When he’s not creating beats or lyrics, he’s leveling up his editing and public speaking game.
Aniya Porter An MCC student working toward a degree in Graphic Design, with mad skills in art and communication. She’s also a total anime buff and future world traveler.
Pretty Moo UNL student and graphic design major, currently interning as a communications specialist. She’s all about creating bold visuals and keeping brand vibes on point.
And guess who came back?! Our OG Hiya girl, Katelyn Fryzek, is back as a summer intern, too! She's been an amazing part of our journey, and now she's bringing her marketing magic and creativity full circle.
Interning at Hiya isn’t about getting coffee. It’s about building something real. Our interns are brainstorming campaigns, styling shoots, organizing inventory, and learning what it takes to turn a mission into a movement.
Providing opportunities for young people to showcase their skills and passions will not only boost their self-esteem but also allow them to really focus on what they want to pursue in the future.
